Xiamen Tungsten New Energy: Strengthen cooperation with French partners to jointly support the rapid development of the European new energy industry
Xinhua News Agency, Paris, May 7th - Yang Jinhong, Chairman of Xiamen Xiamen Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd., recently attended the China France Forum on Cultural Cooperation and Development in Paris, France. He stated that the development of enterprises cannot be separated from globalization and is willing to strengthen cooperation with French partners to jointly promote the rapid development of the European new energy industry, drive the steady growth of bilateral trade volume and mutual direct investment projects between China and France, promote the continuous expansion of cooperation in emerging fields such as green consumption, green energy, and technological innovation, and contribute to the development of China France relations.
Yang Jinhong introduced that 20 years ago, Xiamen Tungsten Industry Co., Ltd. in China took precautions and began to layout the new energy materials industry, establishing production lines for lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, ternary materials, and lithium iron phosphate. Its subsidiary Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Materials Co., Ltd. was officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Science and Technology Innovation Board in August 2021. The development of Xiamen Tungsten new energy is a vivid epitome of Chinese path to modernization green energy construction, and also an important force to unswervingly promote Chinese path to modernization. The company currently has 9 holding companies and subsidiaries, creating four major product lines: lithium cobalt oxide, ternary materials, lithium iron phosphate, and hydrogen storage alloys. The production and sales of positive electrode materials are among the top in China, with lithium cobalt oxide accounting for nearly 50% of the global market share, ranking first in the industry; Ternary materials remain at the forefront of the industry, while hydrogen storage alloys have maintained their position for 15 consecutive years.
In May 2023, Xiamen Tungsten New Energy Europe Company established a joint venture with a subsidiary of the French Orano Group to set up a battery cathode material joint venture controlled by Xiamen Tungsten New Energy and a precursor joint venture controlled by Orano in the northern French port city of Dunkirk. The total investment of the project is about 1.5 billion euros, and 80000 tons of cathode materials, 80000 tons of precursors, and 20000 tons of recycling capacity will be built in batches. In the future, it will provide more than 1000 job opportunities for France. The project runs through the complete industrial chain of battery cathode materials, precursors and battery recycling, realizing the deep integration and cooperation of the battery industry chain in the new era of Sino French new energy vehicles, contributing to the rapid development of the new energy industry in Europe, implementing the national "the Belt and Road" initiative, and becoming another bright card of Sino French cooperation.
Yang Jinhong said that Xiamen Tungsten New Energy has rooted its original intention in the land of China, embraced the world with enthusiasm, and came to Europe and France to open up more new opportunities.
